Our Services

To provide input loans, linkages to mainstream markets and other support services to small-scale farmers and entrepreneurs in South Africa in support of agricultural development programs.

Loan Application (Available Soon)

Seasonal Loans

These are agricultural operational loans that are used for the purchase agricultural inputs like fertilizers, chemicals, diesel, and labour.  This type of loan is for the season and therefore repayable after the season on harvest.  It is desirable that seasonal loans are supported by crop insurance products that will protect against loss of crops due to natural disasters, or loss of income due to decline in prices of agricultural commodities.

Short Term Loans

These are loans taken for a short period (usually not more than 6 months) by the farmers to assist the farmer with small issues on the farm like leaking pipes, fixing small electrical problems, etc.  These loans will be repaid in less than a year after harvest.

Business Development Support Services

It is accepted that the farmer is an expert in his farming craft like growing crops or livestock. However, for the business to advance, the farmer needs to develop other skills like the marketing of the product, business advice, and training.  Peulwana is an AgriSETA accredited organisation, in collaboration with commodity organisations, trainers, agricultural businesses like NWK,  and other agricultural specialists, farmers are supported with business development services.

Other Support Services

We provide financial oversight and governance while nurturing farmers and entrepreneurs from small-scale to commercial. We offer Project Management services for PPP interventions and other agri-projects.

IT IS ALL ABOUT SERVICE

Business development support assists in growing farmer yields and profitability, as well improve efficiencies on the farm.  An example is the use of technology on the farm, tools like drones, robotics, artificial intelligence, 3-D printing, virtual reality, and cloud connectivity are just some of the tools that are transforming the farming industry.  One must picture an expansive farm whereby there might be an error with the irrigation system.  It may take long for a farmer to pick up a fault on the water line, thereby wasting water and potentially causing harm to the crops that may not be adequately irrigated.  Modern Technology may allow a farmer to get quick and precise information about the fault in the irrigation system.  By employing new technologies, farmers may save time and money.

The Peuwlana name originates from a Northern Sotho word ‘Peulwane’ which refers to a barn swallow bird.  When swallows fly low, it is usually considered that is a sign that rain is coming.  At the formation of Peulwana it was felt that the company will be a ‘rain-maker’ to farmers, by accessing the resources i.e. working capital finance, that it would be like the farmer has received essential rain that will make it possible for the farmer to go do her work producing food.

From small and medium-scale farmers, agro-processors to co-operatives along the agricultural value chain.
